I saw the upcoming event by The Watershed Foundation. I’m interested, but I’d like to know more. Can you explain the Agriculture Breakfast?
Sincerely,
Watershed Wanderer
Dear Watershed Wanderer,
Agriculture Breakfast, 2025
As a farmer, I know firsthand the struggle that water can pose on the field. Common issues like flooding, wet spots, gullies, and poor drainage can make it difficult to get the job done. These issues also impact the water and world around us, so working together to find solutions is so important.
That’s why I’m so excited for this year’s Agriculture Breakfast! This free, educational event is designed for anyone involved in agriculture — including farmers, landowners, agronomists, agricultural lenders, insurance agents, and others who work closely with the land.
Our goal is to bring people together for meaningful conversation, practical learning, and connection across the agricultural community.
What To Expect
Jerry Sweeten, PhD
This year, Dr. Jerry Sweeten will speak on the science behind water movement. Jerry is a retired professor from Manchester College and has great experience working with farmers and landowners in the Eel River basin to improve water movement and quality around their land. He is also Indiana’s expert in removing low-head dams— he continues that work today.
In addition to Dr. Sweeten’s presentation, we’ll dive into practical conversations about improving water movement and addressing real-world water challenges you may be facing on your farmland or property. These discussions help shape future events we host here at The Watershed Foundation.
We are also excited to share resources for landowners at this event!
