Many hands made light work during The Watershed Foundation’s 8th annual Snapshot Water Monitoring Day! On September 19, 64 citizen scientists rolled up their sleeves, clambered down ditches, tramped through woods and fields, and waded into streams to collect water samples at 92 different sites throughout our watershed.

Drought conditions ahead of the event left water levels low at many sites. Still, volunteers were able to capture quality data. That information will help TWF assess water quality throughout our region, spot potential problem areas, and create solutions. Data from past events have resulted in pollution-reducing projects like dog waste stations along Cherry Creek in Winona Lake.

We’re hard at work analyzing this year’s results. Updated data and maps will be available soon! Want to be the first to hear when they’re ready? Follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter. Meanwhile, you can browse previous years’ Snapshot results here.
