Celebrating our Success: TWF’s Top 10 of 2019

Thank you to the community members and organization partners that have made this Top 10 for 2019 list possible. Together, we are taking action and protecting our precious lakes for today and for future generations! 

  1. Farmers’ Breakfast “Building Resiliency to Climate Change” – outstanding attendance, partnership effort, speakers, and feedback.
  2. New Board Members – TWF welcomed Diane Quance (Pike Lake) and Nick Stouder (Winona Lake) to its Board of Directors.
  3. Eight Watershed Tours & Parties with a Purpose – informed and engaged many continued and new supporters.
  4. We Danced through the Decades at Tippy Dance Hall raising crucial funding to protect our lakes.
  5. Engaging Outreach Programs: 12th year of our Rafting program with local schools, 9th year of Water Monitoring program, 3rd year of Snapshot Water Monitoring Day, 1st year of Jefferson Elementary E.coli study.
  6. Added Organizational Capacity – hiring Brad Clayton as Watershed Conservationist & Meghan Smith as Communications Coordinator.
  7. Water Quality Improvement Projects with Agricultural Landowners in the Watershed – 25 completed in 2019; 13 planned for 2020.
  8. Winona Lake Limitless Park Healthy Shoreline – diverse community involvement through grants & volunteers; awarded 2019 ‘Limitless Award’.
  9. Watershed Management Plan approved & $400,000 IDEM grant received for Warsaw-Winona area watershed in 2021.
  10. Tippecanoe-Chapman Regional Sewer District approved after 22 years of outreach, advocacy, and determination by TWF & partners!
