Ask Lyn: What is TWF Planning in 2019?

Wednesday, April 10, 2019

Dear Lyn,

I’m very excited to get back out on the lake and enjoy it. What is on TWF’s plate this year? Any exciting upcoming projects or programs? I would love to get involved more if there are any volunteer opportunities!

Best,
Summer is Coming!

Dear Summer is Coming,

A past streambank restoration project.

We can relate to your excitement! TWF has some great new things coming in 2019 that we would love to share. Thanks to your support, we already have commitments with landowners to complete 17 projects to stop or prevent water pollution in 2019. We will invest $263,500 in construction costs to complete these on-the-ground projects valued at over $500,000!

Examples include restoring shorelines and streambanks, installing  rain gardens, restoring  wetlands, planting haylands and pollinator plants, constructing a bioreactor, planting cover crops and grassed waterways, building water & sediment control basins, and fencing cattle from a waterway.

As for ways that you can get involved, be sure to check out our Volunteer Planting Days at the Winona Lake Shoreline project coming up in May and follow our Facebook page to stay in touch!

See you out on the Lakes!
