2018 Rules for Photo Contest

Show us how you see your watershed!

If you are anything like us, you have a plethora of pictures – from animals and nature, to family and playtime! At TWF, one of our most important duties is connecting others to the watershed, in a way that helps the community understand how we are all, in some way, connected to and benefit from our natural water resources.

We are all involved in different ways to our watershed, and we would love to see how you live, learn and love through the lakes and streams. Our annual photo contest, “Picture Your Watershed” is an important way that we can connect with our community, and show others how awesome it is to live in the land of the lakes!

Your pictures tell the story of how the lakes impact and affect your life. We would love to see them, share them, and let others know how important they are to protect and improve upon.

TWF 2018 Photo Contest Rules and Conditions

Be sure to read the following rules, terms and legal conditions before submittingany photos! Click here to read the legal conditions. The Watershed Foundation Photography Competition is open to participants of all ages.

We are looking for images that showcase the Upper Tippecanoe Watershed.  Click here for a map of the watershed.

All photographs should accurately reflect the subject matter and the scene as it appeared. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified. Multiple exposures that have been combined to produce a single “High Dynamic Range” image are acceptable. Images that do not meet these requirements may or may not be judged at the judging panel’s sole discretion.

Each photo must be submitted electronically, through The Watershed Facebook fan page. To submit your photos with your Facebook credentials, visit OUR FACEBOOK PAGE. If you do not have an account, you can sign-up for free at facebook.com. After logging in, navigate to the Picture Your Watershed tab on TWF’s page to submit your entry.  Please be sure to review the Rules and Terms and fill out all required fields when submitting photos.

All photos submitted must include the photographer’s name and contact information, location the image was taken, and the category in which to photo is to be judged.

Entries may originate in any format — including, but not limited to digital files, digital prints, color transparencies, color prints, or black and white prints — so long as they are submitted electronically via TWF’s Facebook page. Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license (see “Your Rights” below). You must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously to TWF upon request.

Images will be judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.  Images will be judged in the following categories:

Lovin’ the Lakes:  People engaged in lake activities – tubing, swimming, walking along the shore, etc

Wet ‘n’ Wildlife:  Animals and wildlife

Nature’s Studio:  Landscapes and watery reflections

Nature Selfie:  Individual or group photo taken by one of those being photographed while enjoying the natural world within the Tippecanoe Watershed

The judges will consist of a panel of qualified individuals.  TWF shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by the judges are final.

TWF may request that winning photographs be submitted to TWF in their original resolution via email.

Deadline for submitting entries is December 31, 2018.

Voting for the People’s Choice Awards will run from January 1 – January 31, 2019.
